Amoxicillin (Amoxil®, Moxatag) is a medicine licensed for the treatment of certain types of infections. It works by stopping bacteria from making cell walls, which eventually causes the bacteria to die. The medication is available by prescription only and comes in the form of capsules, tablets, chewable tablets, pediatric drops, and oral suspension (liquid). If you are pregnant, have kidney disease, or have a penicillin allergy, you should talk to your healthcare provider before using amoxicillin products.
