Amoxicillin Drug Interactions

Probenecid, birth control pills, and some antibiotics may interact with amoxicillin. Drug interactions could decrease the effectiveness of the medications or increase your risk for side effects (including skin rashes and other allergic reactions). To reduce your risk of developing potentially negative amoxicillin interactions, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking.

An Overview of Interactions With Amoxicillin

Amoxicillin (Amoxil®, Moxatag) can potentially interact with a few other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to amoxicillin interactions include:
 

 

 

  • Methotrexate (Rheumatrex®, Trexall™)
  • Oral typhoid vaccine
  • Probenecid (Benuryl™).
