Cedax Antibiotic Information

As a prescription antibiotic, Cedax® (ceftibuten) works to kill bacteria by stopping them from forming cell walls. This drug is approved for use in adults and children as young as six months old. It is licensed for treating the following infections:
 
 
Cedax comes as capsules or an oral suspension (liquid), and is taken once daily for 10 days. Most people who take this medicine do not experience any problems with it. However, side effects are possible and may include diarrhea, nausea, and headaches.
 
Although this medication is effective at treating various bacterial infections, not everyone can take this antibiotic. Information on Cedax should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to reduce your risk for certain complications. For instance, this medication may not be appropriate for people who are allergic to penicillin or those who have kidney disease.
