Ceftazidime Drug Information
Ceftazidime (Fortaz®, Tazicef®) is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is typically given in hospitals or other similar settings. It is given either intravenously (by IV) or intramuscularly (injected into a muscle). Some of the specific conditions this drug is approved to treat include:
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs, such as a bladder infection or kidney infection)
- Bone and joint infections
- Lower respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia
- Skin and skin structure infections.
