Floxin Antibiotic Information
Floxin® (ofloxacin) is used in the treatment of several different infections, such as prostatitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease. Because it is an antibiotic, Floxin is not used to treat viral infections, such as the common cold. The drug comes in tablet form and is taken by mouth twice a day, preferably every 12 hours.
Prior to taking Floxin, inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking (including supplements and nonprescription products), as well as any other medical conditions you have. This antibiotic may not be right for people with liver or kidney disease, for example, and can react with several other drugs. Having this information will help your healthcare provider plan appropriate treatment.
