Ofloxacin Otic Medication Information

If you have a bacterial ear infection, your healthcare provider may prescribe ofloxacin otic solution (Floxin® Otic). This medicine is specifically approved for treating acute otitis media (middle ear infections) in children with ear tubes, and chronic otitis media in children and adults who have a ruptured eardrum. It is also used to treat outer ear infections (otitis externa, more commonly known as "swimmer's ear") in both children and adults.

To help ensure a safe treatment process with this medication, make sure to review the prescribing information for ofloxacin otic solution before using these ear drops. For instance, this medicine may not be safe for use in people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or for those who have certain allergies.

Although most people do not have any problems while using ofloxacin otic solution, side effects can occur and may include ear discomfort, dizziness, and itching in the ear. If negative reactions do occur, they tend to be mild and easily treated.
