Augmentin for Children

Augmentin® (amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium) is a prescription medication approved for treating various types of bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), sinus infections, and lower respiratory tract infections.
Healthcare providers may prescribe Augmentin for children, including very young infants. Be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about using the drug in children. Augmentin is available in liquid form and in chewable tablets. Regular tablets are often too large for many children to swallow.
Your healthcare provider will calculate your child's dose by considering several factors, including your child's weight, the severity of the infection, and the particular Augmentin product (different products can contain different amounts of clavulanate potassium, even if the amoxicillin dosage is the same).
