Augmentin Indications

Augmentin^® (amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium) is a prescription antibiotic used for treating various types of bacterial infections. Approved uses (indications) for Augmentin include the treatment of:

Lower respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia
Ear infections
Sinus infections
Skin infections
Urinary tract infections (UTIs), such as bladder infections or kidney infections.

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend this medication for treating something other than the uses listed here. "Off-label" Augmentin indications include the treatment of other types of infections, particularly if they are caused by bacteria that are susceptible to the drug, and the prevention (instead of treatment) of any type of infection.
