Avelox Indications

As a "broad-spectrum" antibiotic, Avelox® (moxifloxacin) is effective against a wide variety of different types of bacteria and is used to treat various infections. Common Avelox indications (or uses) include the treatment of:
 
There are also a number of off-label indications for Avelox. The medication is frequently used off-label to treat many other types of infections, particularly if they are caused by bacteria that are susceptible to the drug. Also, using Avelox to prevent (instead of treat) any type of infection is considered an off-label indication. It may also be used off-label to prevent infections after exposure to inhaled anthrax.
