Serious and Uncommon Reactions to Avelox
Some side effects with Avelox, while occurring infrequently, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
- Pain, swelling, bruising, or rupture of a tendon
- Hallucinations, paranoia, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, or any other unusual changes in thoughts or behavior
- Signs of liver damage, such as:
- Yellow eyes or skin (jaundice)
- Upper-right abdominal (stomach) pain
- Light-colored stools
- Dark urine
- Seizures
- Watery or bloody diarrhea
- Fainting
- Heart palpitations or an irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
- Any unusual sensations, such as burning, numb, tingly, or pricking sensations
- Any joint or muscle problems
- Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
- An unexplained rash
- Hives
- Itching
- Unexplained swelling (especially of the lips, mouth, or throat)
- Wheezing or other breathing problems
- Worsening of myasthenia gravis symptoms, such as muscle weakness and breathing problems.
Rare Avelox Side Effects
Rare side effects of Avelox occur in less than 1 percent of people taking the drug. Because these side effects are so uncommon, it is difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by Avelox or other factors.
These rare side effects include but are not limited to:
- Abdominal pain (stomach pain)
- Headaches
- Weakness
- Yeast infection
- Vomiting
- Indigestion or heartburn
- Dry mouth
- Gas
- Thrush (a yeast infection of the mouth)
- Constipation
- Canker sores
- Insomnia
- Drowsiness
- Sweating
- Taste changes.
