Azactam for UTI

If you have a certain type of urinary tract infection (UTI), your healthcare provider may prescribe Azactam® (aztreonam injection). This antibiotic works by interfering with the ability of bacteria to grow and multiply.

Specifically, Azactam is designed to treat infections caused by a group of bacteria known as Gram-negative bacteria. Azactam should only be used to treat infections that are known to be or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria that are susceptible to the drug.
