Biaxin® (clarithromycin) is an antibiotic only available by prescription. It is commonly used for treating bacterial infections, and is also used for preventing a serious bacterial infection that can occur in people with advanced AIDS. Biaxin comes in the form of immediate-release tablets, extended-release tablets, and an oral suspension (liquid). Before taking the medication, you should talk to your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you have, as well as any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements).
