Cefzil Dosage Children

When taking Cefzil® (cefprozil) to treat certain infections, your healthcare provider will make certain dosage recommendations based on several factors. Some of the factors that may affect the amount include your age, weight, and the type and severity of the infection being treated.

Cefzil comes as a tablet or an oral solution (liquid), and is usually taken once or twice a day. If your kidneys are not functioning well, your healthcare provider may recommend a lower or less-frequent dose.

For children, the recommended dosage of Cefzil is primarily dependent on weight. In general, the standard amount is 7.5 mg to 15 mg per kg (about 3.4 mg to 6.8 mg per lb) twice a day or 20 mg per kg (about 9.1 mg per lb) once daily for 10 days.
