An overdose with cephalosporin medications can cause serious problems, such as seizures or a coma. If you think you have taken too much Cefzil, seek immediate medical attention.
(Click Cefzil Overdose for more information.)
Cefzil tablets should be stored at room temperature. The powder that is used to make the liquid suspension should be stored at room temperature until it is mixed by your pharmacist. After it is mixed, it should be kept under refrigeration and discarded after 14 days.
If you do not take your Cefzil as scheduled, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. In this case, simply skip the missed dose and continue with your usual schedule. Try not to miss any doses, as doing so increases the chance of developing a more serious infection.
Cefzil comes in the following strengths and forms:
- Cefprozil 250 mg tablets
- Cefprozil 500 mg tablets
- Cefprozil 125 mg per 5 mL for oral suspension
- Cefprozil 250 mg per 5 mL for oral suspension.
This medication is available in generic form (see Generic Cefzil).
