Ciprofloxacin Reactions

Ciprofloxacin is a medication often prescribed for treating various bacterial infections. Although most people tolerate this antibiotic well, it is possible to develop side effects while taking it. The specific reactions to ciprofloxacin will depend on which form of the medication you are taking.

For example, some of the most commonly reported reactions with the oral and injectable forms of ciprofloxacin include:

The ear drops may cause problems such as ear discomfort or itching in the ear, while the eye drops most commonly cause eye redness and itching in the eye.

In most cases, side effects such as these are minor and easily treated. However, you should notify your healthcare provider right away if you develop serious reactions while taking ciprofloxacin, such as hallucinations, difficulty breathing, or yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin (jaundice).
