What Does Ciprofloxacin Cure?
If you have an infection, your healthcare provider may prescribe ciprofloxacin. Specifically, ciprofloxacin is used to cure certain bacterial infections, such as:
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs), commonly called "bladder infections"
- Kidney infections
- Ear infections, such as "swimmer's ear"
- Eye infections, such as "pink eye"
- Sinus infections.
Ciprofloxacin is also approved to prevent infections or the worsening of infections after exposure to inhaled anthrax in adults and children. On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend the drug for "off-label," or unapproved, uses, such as infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
