Doxycycline 40 mg

If you have rosacea, a healthcare provider may prescribe a once-daily dosage of 40 mg doxycycline capsules. However, your actual dosage will depend on several factors, such as your age, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are taking.

Doxycycline 40 mg is only available in delayed-release capsules and is sold under the brand name Oracea®. This is the only doxycycline product approved for treating rosacea. When treating rosacea with doxycycline, the recommended dosage is one 40 mg Oracea capsule once daily in the morning on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after a meal.

Make sure to take doxycycline with plenty of water (or other fluids) while in an upright position, in order to prevent the medication from irritating the throat. Make sure that you complete your entire prescription of doxycycline, even if you start feeling better. This will ensure that the infection is completely treated.
