Doxycycline Capsules

Doxycycline is a prescription medication used to treat several conditions, such as bacterial infections, rosacea, acne, and gum disease. This antibiotic comes in several strengths and forms. The capsule form of doxycycline is available in the following strengths:

There are also other forms of doxycycline products, including tablets, a syrup, an oral suspension, a gel, or injections.

As part of a group of drugs called tetracyclines, doxycycline decreases bacteria's ability to make protein, which bacteria need to live. This activity does not directly kill the bacteria, but it does inhibit their growth and multiplication, which gives the immune system a chance to fight the infection.

Although most people tolerate doxycycline tablets well, the medication is not suitable for everyone. Before using this medication, make sure to talk to your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you have and any other medications you are taking. Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
