Who Should Not Take Doxycycline?

You should not take doxycycline if:
 
  • You are allergic to doxycycline, related chemicals, related medications (such as minocycline or tetracycline), or any inactive ingredients used in making doxycycline. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • You are treating a child less than 8 years of age (except in extreme and necessary cases).
     
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
     
  • You have liver failure or liver disease.
     

Doxycycline Precautions and Warnings: A Summary
