Additional Products That React With Floxin

Sucralfate
Sucralfate can bind to Floxin in the digestive tract, decreasing the amount absorbed into the bloodstream. You should take your Floxin dose at least two hours before or six hours after you take sucralfate to help minimize the risk of this drug interaction.

Sulfonylureas
There have been reports of changes in blood sugar (both low and high) in people taking sulfonylureas with fluoroquinolones such as Floxin. Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) may be more likely within the first couple of days of Floxin treatment, while high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) may be more likely after several days.

If you currently take a sulfonylurea, your healthcare provider may recommend that you check your blood sugar more often while taking Floxin.

Theophylline
Floxin may increase the level of theophylline in your blood, potentially increasing your risk for serious side effects, including seizures. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider may want to monitor the level of theophylline in your blood. You may need a lower theophylline dosage.

Tizanidine
Floxin may increase the amount of tizanidine in your blood, increasing your risk for side effects, such as sedation or low blood pressure (hypotension). If you take these medications together, you may need to be watchful for increased tizanidine side effects.

Typhoid Vaccine
Antibiotics, including Floxin, may decrease the effectiveness of the typhoid vaccine. However, this interaction only occurs with the oral typhoid vaccine. It is generally recommended that the oral typhoid vaccine be postponed until at least 24 hours after the final Floxin dose.

Vitamins With Aluminum, Magnesium, Calcium, Zinc, or Iron
Aluminum, magnesium, zinc, calcium, and iron can bind to Floxin in the digestive tract, preventing it from being fully absorbed into the bloodstream. You should take your Floxin dose at least two hours before or six hours after any vitamins containing aluminum, magnesium, calcium, zinc, or iron.
