Levaquin Indications

Levaquin® (levofloxacin) is a prescription antibiotic approved for several different uses. It can be used to prevent infection after exposure to inhaled anthrax in adults and children. Other indications for Levaquin include the treatment of certain types of infections in adults, including:
 
On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Levaquin for something other than the conditions listed here. The medication is frequently used off-label to treat many other types of infections, particularly if they are caused by bacteria that are susceptible to Levaquin. Using the drug to prevent (instead of treat) any type of infection other than anthrax is considered an off-label Levaquin indication.
