What If I Take an Overdose?
At this time, it is not entirely clear what to expect from an overdose with Azactam. Seek immediate medical attention if you may have used too much of this or any other medication.
How Should Azactam Be Stored?
Azactam vials that contain the medication in powder form should be stored at room temperature, protected from heat. The medication must be mixed with an appropriate liquid, such as sterile water for injection, before use.
Storage recommendations after mixing the medicine depend on the type of liquid used to mix it, and whether the medication is stored refrigerated or at room temperature after mixing. Azactam will need to be used right away after mixing when mixed with some liquids. Other liquids allow the medication to be stored for up to 48 hours at room temperature or up to seven days refrigerated.
This medicine also comes in plastic containers that contain Azactam as a premixed solution. Premixed Azactam should be stored in the freezer, and thawed in the refrigerator or at room temperature before use. Once thawed, the medication must be used within 48 hours if kept at room temperature or within 14 days if kept refrigerated. Premixed Azactam should not be refrozen once thawed.
Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children and pets.
What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?
If you miss your usual dose of Azactam, contact your healthcare provider right away for instructions on what to do. It is very important to try and take this medication as prescribed. Missing doses could increase the chance of developing an infection that is resistant to antibiotic treatment.
