Ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone (Ciprodex®) is a prescription medication used to treat bacterial ear infections, including middle ear infections (known medically as acute otitis media) in children with ear tubes. The medication is also used for outer ear infections (known medically as otitis externa, or more commonly "swimmer's ear") in both children and adults. It contains a combination of ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic, and dexamethasone, a corticosteroid medication.

Just like any medicine, ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
The most common ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone side effects include but are not limited to:
- Ear discomfort
- Ear pain
- Itching in the ear.
