Antibiotics Home > Pediatric and Off-Label Indications for Doxycycline

Doxycycline Uses in Children

Doxycycline should not be used in children under the age of 8. Permanent discoloration and altered development of teeth has been reported in children younger than 8 years old who have used tetracyclines, such as doxycycline.

Off-Label Doxycycline Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend doxycycline for treating something other than the conditions listed in this article. This is called an "off-label" use. Doxycycline's off-label uses may include treatment of infections that are resistant to another antibiotic known as vancomycin.
