Keflex 500 mg Capsules
If you have certain bacterial infections, a healthcare provider may prescribe Keflex® (cephalexin) 500 mg capsules two to four times a day. However, your dosage will depend on several factors, such as your age, the condition being treated, whether you have decreased kidney function, and other medications you are taking.
The recommended dose for most types of bacterial infections is 250 mg to 1000 mg, taken four times a day for 7 to 14 days. For chronic or more serious infections, your healthcare provider may continue treatment with Keflex for a longer period.
Make sure that you complete your entire prescription, even if you start feeling better. This will ensure that the infection is completely treated. Never take outdated Keflex. Taking any outdated medication may cause serious problems because the intended effects often change after the medicine expires.
