Antibiotics Home > Should You Take Levaquin With Food?

Many people may wonder if you should take Levaquin® (levofloxacin) with food. You can take the tablets with food or on an empty stomach. However, the oral solution must be taken at least one hour before or two hours after a meal.
Levaquin can be taken at any time of the day. However, make sure to take the medication at the same time each day to make sure there are approximately 24 hours between doses. For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Levaquin will not work if you stop taking it too soon.
Make sure to finish your prescription, even if you start to feel better. Stopping Levaquin too soon could lead to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage, please talk with your healthcare provider.
