Ofloxacin ophthalmic solution (
Ocuflox®) is an antibiotic eye drop used to treat certain bacterial infections of the eye, including conjunctivitis (often called "
pink eye") and corneal ulcers. It belongs to a group of medications called fluoroquinolones, or "quinolones" for short.
Just like any medicine, ofloxacin ophthalmic solution may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
The most common side effects seen with ofloxacin ophthalmic solution may include:
- Burning or discomfort in the eye
- Eye stinging
- Eye redness
- Itchy eyes.
