Ofloxacin otic solution (Floxin® Otic) is a prescription ear drop used to treat the following bacterial ear infections:
- Otitis externa, which is an infection of the ear canal or outer ear, commonly called "swimmer's ear"
- Acute otitis media, commonly called a middle ear infection, in children with ear tubes
- Chronic otitis media in people with tympanic membrane (eardrum) holes.

Just like any medicine, ofloxacin otic solution may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses it will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
The most common ofloxacin otic solution side effects include but are not limited to:
- Ear discomfort
- Bitter taste
- Itching in the ear
- Ear pain
- Dizziness.
