Antibiotics Home > Vantin Dosage Recommendations

When taking Vantin® (cefpodoxime proxetil) to treat certain infections, your healthcare provider will make certain dosage recommendations based on several factors. Some of the factors that may affect the amount include your age, weight, and the type and severity of the infection being treated.

Vantin comes as a tablet or an oral solution (liquid), and is usually taken twice a day. The tablets are best absorbed when taken with food; the liquid can be taken with or without food.

If your kidneys are not functioning well, your healthcare provider may recommend a lower or less-frequent dose of Vantin.
