Who Should Not Take Minocycline?

You should not take minocycline if:
 
  • You are allergic to minocycline, related chemicals, related medications (such as doxycycline or tetracycline), or any inactive ingredients used in making minocycline. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

 

  • You have liver failure or liver disease.
 
  • You have kidney failure or kidney disease.
 
As stated, children less than 8 years of age should not take minocycline either (except in extreme and necessary cases).

There are a number of situations in which minocycline should not be taken, along with several precautions and warnings people should be aware of before taking minocycline.
