Who Should Not Take Minocycline?

You should not take minocycline if:
 
  • You are allergic to minocycline, related chemicals, related medications (such as doxycycline or tetracycline), or any inactive ingredients used in making minocycline. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

 

  • You have liver failure or liver disease.
 
  • You have kidney failure or kidney disease.
 
As stated, children less than 8 years of age should not take minocycline either (except in extreme and necessary cases).
 

Minocycline Precautions and Warnings: A Summary

There are a number of situations in which minocycline should not be taken, along with several precautions and warnings people should be aware of before taking minocycline. However, it is possible that not all the warnings or precautions were discussed in this article.
