Moxifloxacin Eye Drops

Moxifloxacin eye drops are used for the treatment of bacterial pink eye infections. The antibiotic eye drops work by interfering with two important enzymes, making it difficult for the bacteria to multiply. This medicine is typically used three times a day for seven days. Commonly reported side effects include dry eyes and eye pain.

What Are Moxifloxacin Eye Drops?

Available by prescription, moxifloxacin eye drops (Moxeza™, Vigamox®) are approved for treating bacterial conjunctivitis -- a type of "pink eye" infection of the eye caused by bacteria.

Are There Side Effects?

Just like any medicine, moxifloxacin eye drops can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience bothersome side effects. Most people tolerate it quite well. If problems do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
 
Common side effects seen with moxifloxacin eye drops include but are not limited to:
 
  • Vision that is not as sharp as usual
  • Dry eyes
  • Eye pain.
