Drug Interactions With Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution

Ofloxacin ophthalmic solution is not likely to interact with other drugs. In fact, there are currently no known interactions with this eye drop. However, it is possible that certain reactions haven't been discovered yet, so tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking before using ofloxacin ophthalmic solution.

Does Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution Interact With Other Drugs?

Ofloxacin ophthalmic solution (Ocuflox®) is an antibiotic eye drop licensed to treat certain infections of the eye, including bacterial conjunctivitis (commonly called "pink eye") and corneal ulcers. This medication is not likely to interact with other drugs.

Ofloxacin ophthalmic solution is applied directly into the eye, and very little is expected to be absorbed into the body. Because only small amounts of the drug are found in the blood after normal use, ofloxacin ophthalmic solution will likely not interact with other medications.

Although ofloxacin ophthalmic solution is not likely to interact with other drugs, you may need to separate its use from that of other eye drops. If you are using more than one eye drop medication, talk to your healthcare provider about the best way to use these products together.

Final Thoughts

At this time, it seems unlikely that ofloxacin ophthalmic solution would interact with other drugs, as very little of it is expected to be absorbed into the body. However, this does not necessarily mean that there really are no ofloxacin ophthalmic solution drug interactions. This product has not been studied with other medicines, and there may be interactions that are yet to be discovered.

It is a good idea to make sure your healthcare provider has a complete list of all your medications. Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements, even if you believe they will not react with other medicines.
