Side Effects of Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution

Although most people have no problems with ofloxacin ophthalmic solution, side effects are possible, such as eye stinging, itching, and redness. In many cases, these reactions are minor and easily treated. However, there are several side effects that you should report to your healthcare provider right away, including persistent redness, worsening pain, or signs of an allergic reaction.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution

Just like any medicine, ofloxacin ophthalmic solution (Ocuflox®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Ofloxacin Ophthalmic Solution Side Effects to Report

Some reactions to this drug are potentially serious and should be reported to your healthcare provider right away. Potentially serious side effects of ofloxacin ophthalmic solution include:
 
  • Severe or persistent eye redness, irritation, or pain that does not go away or that gets worse with repeated ofloxacin ophthalmic solution use
 
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
 
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling of the mouth or throat
    • Wheezing or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
