Omnicef Indications

Some people may wonder about the indications (or uses) of Omnicef® (cefdinir). This prescription medication is approved to treat various bacterial infections in adults and children as young as six months old. Specifically, Omnicef is used to treat the following conditions:
 
Omnicef may be used to treat a number of other bacterial infections as well. It can also be substituted in place of penicillin to treat common infections in people who are allergic to this particular drug. It should be noted, however, that there is a small chance that people who are allergic to penicillin will also be allergic to Omnicef or other cephalosporins.
 
Omnicef is not effective against any infection caused by a virus, such as the flu, stomach flu, or common cold.
