Plaquenal

Plaquenil® (hydroxychloroquine sulfate) is a prescription anti-malarial medication that is also used to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. It works to prevent and treat malaria by entering red blood cells, entering the bacteria, and interfering with the internal functions of the bacteria. Plaquenil comes in the form of a tablet that is taken either once a week for malaria or once or twice daily for rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Side effects of the medicine may include abdominal cramping, skin reactions, and eye damage.
