Prior to taking retapamulin, tell your healthcare provider if you:
- Have any allergies, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant (see Altabax and Pregnancy)
- Are breastfeeding (see Altabax and Breastfeeding).
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

There is only one standard recommended dosage for this medication, regardless of your age or weight. As always, do not adjust this amount unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Retapamulin is unlikely to interact with other medications (see Drug Interactions With Retapamulin).
It is unclear what exactly to expect with an overdose of this medication. If you or someone else may have taken too much (or taken this medication by mouth), seek immediate medical attention.
