Rifadin® (rifampin) is a medication prescribed to treat tuberculosis. It is also approved to get rid of a certain type of bacteria called Neisseria meningitides (the bacteria that causes meningococcal infections, such as meningitis) in people who have this type of bacteria in their nose and throat but do not have symptoms of a meningococcal infection.
