Problems With Rocephin

As with many other medications, Rocephin® (ceftriaxone) can cause negative reactions. Some of the most common problems with Rocephin include side effects, such as:

  • Pain, warmth, and/or minor swelling at the injection site
  • Unexplained rash
  • Diarrhea.

In most cases, side effects of this antibiotic tend to be mild and easily treated. However, notify your healthcare provider right away if you are taking Rocephin and develop serious problems, such as watery diarrhea or difficulty breathing.

Because this medication is not suitable for everyone, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other health problems you might have, as well as any other medications you are taking (to avoid potential drug interactions). For example, you may not be able to safely use Rocephin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are allergic to penicillin.
