Who Should Not Take Septra?
You should not take
Septra if you:
- Are allergic to Septra, sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients. You should not take Septra if you have had an allergic reaction to any other sulfonamide ("sulfa" drug).
- Have megaloblastic anemia due to a folate deficiency.
- Are breastfeeding.
- Are near the end of pregnancy (37 weeks or beyond).
- Are an infant less than two months old.
