More Medicines That React With Sulfatrim

Indomethacin
Indomethacin may increase the level of sulfamethoxazole (one of the active ingredients of Sulfatrim) in the blood. Make sure to check with your healthcare provider before combining Sulfatrim with indomethacin.
 
Leucovorin or Levoleucovorin
Leucovorin or levoleucovorin may decrease the effectiveness of Sulfatrim. In general, these medications should not be used together unless absolutely necessary.
 
Methotrexate
Sulfatrim can increase the level of methotrexate in the blood, increasing the risk of dangerous side effects of methotrexate. In general, these medications should not be used together.
 
Oral Diabetes Medications
Sulfatrim may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) due to some oral diabetes medications. Check with your healthcare provider before combining Sulfatrim with an oral diabetes medication. You may need to monitor your blood sugar more closely.
 
Oral Typhoid Vaccine
Antibiotics (including Sulfatrim) may decrease the effectiveness of the oral typhoid vaccine. If you are taking Sulfatrim, your oral typhoid vaccine may need to be postponed for at least a day after your last dose of Sulfatrim.
 
Phenytoin
Sulfatrim can increase the level of phenytoin in your blood, increasing the risk of phenytoin side effects. Your healthcare provider may want to monitor the level of phenytoin in your blood and may need to adjust your phenytoin dosage.
 
Procainamide
Sulfatrim increases the level of procainamide in the blood, increasing the risk of dangerous side effects of procainamide. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
