Other General Tetracycline Dosage Information

Some other information for people taking tetracycline includes:

  • Tetracycline should be taken at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the antibiotic in your system.

  • Tetracycline works best when taken without food, either one hour before eating or two hours after you have eaten. However, it can be taken with food if it upsets your stomach.

  • Drink a full glass of water with each dose.

  • For tetracycline to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed.

  • Make sure that you complete your entire prescription of tetracycline, even if you start feeling better. This will ensure that the infection is completely treated.

  • Never take outdated tetracycline. This can cause serious problems, as outdated tetracycline can be toxic to the kidneys.

  • If you are unsure about anything related to tetracycline or your tetracycline dosage, please talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking tetracycline without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
