Vibramycin 50 mg Capsules

If you have certain bacterial infections, you may benefit from Vibramycin® (doxycycline). This prescription medication is a type of antibiotic and works to treat several bacterial infections (including acne), treat or prevent anthrax infections, and prevent malaria.

For most adults with bacterial infections, the recommended Vibramycin dosage is 100 mg to 200 mg per day for 7 to 14 days. For chronic (long-term) or more serious infections, longer treatment may be required.

In children ages 8 years old or older, your healthcare provider will prescribe a Vibramycin dosage based on the child's weight, usually about 1 mg to 2 mg per pound of body weight per day. The dose is taken for 7 to 14 days. Children who weigh more than 100 pounds should receive the standard adult dosage. Vibramycin is a good choice for children because it also comes in oral suspension (liquid) form.

It is important to take 50 mg Vibramycin capsules with plenty of water (or other fluids) while in an upright position, in order to prevent the medication from irritating the throat.
